Research Interests

We conduct vaccine clinical trials at the Hope Clinic of Emory Vaccine Center that focus on Infectious Diseases of global health significance. We have conducted a variety of vaccine trials sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (sponsored by the Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Units and the HIV Vaccine Trials Network) and the Emory Vaccine Center.  At the Hope clinic, we conduct several different phases of vaccine clinical trials (I, II, and III) as well as investigator initiated studies with collaborators locally, nationally and internationally.  We have collaborated with the scientists at the EVC and have been involved in several cutting-edge translational immunology projects for understanding memory CD8 T cells using the yellow fever virus vaccine.  We are also leading the vaccine efforts for development of a preventive HIV vaccine. The vaccine clinical trials conducted at the Hope clinic have led to better understanding of immune responses to seasonal influenza, avian influenza vaccines and adjuvanted vaccines.  One of our missions is to promote training of junior faculty, fellows, residents and students in vaccinology.
