Ed Mocarski has been selected by The Georgia Cancer Coalition (GCC) to receive its “Distinguished Cancer Clinicians and Scientist Award”. Scholar selection was highly competitive and issued to those scientists whom the GCC considered to be engaged in the most promising areas of cancer research.

The Distinguished Cancer Clinicians and Scientist program is the cornerstone of the GCC research agenda and was established to recruit to Georgia leading and nationally renowned cancer clinicians and scientists who are engaged in the most promising areas of cancer research. The selection of scholars is closely aligned with the National Cancer Institute’s “Extraordinary Opportunities in Cancer Research”, which has identified areas of discovery that hold promise for making significant progress against all cancers.

Harriet Robinson and Rafi have been named co-recipients for the annual Dean’s “Distinguished Faculty Lecture and Award”. The award and lecture are among the most prestigious and celebratory honors that the School of Medicine can bestow on a faculty member. Faculty are nominated by their peers for the award and lecture, and judged by a School of Medicine selection committee which then makes a final recommendation to the Dean. Nominees are judged on the significance and impact of their scholarly work, the academic ideals embodied by their careers and their ability to deliver an exemplary lecture with broad appeal. The specifics for the date and time of the lecture and award ceremony are provided below; please join me in attending this occasion and sharing congratulations with them both.
